Lavender Baby Soap
I created this soothing lightly scented baby soap in 2014 for my oldest granddaughter who had eczema, it's since been used by many folks of all ages who want a gentle, moisturizing bar.
Made with sea water from the pristine Eastern Shore & hand-stirred with love, this bar is full of soothing chamomile botanical extract & organic oatmeal from Speerville Flour Mills of New Brunswick, plus lots & lots of nana-love! xoxoxo
Nana Leigh!
All year round we go to Port Hillford beach on the pristine Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia to collect sea water in five-gallon buckets. We've learned that crocs are the best thing to wear, as rubber boots simply fill up with water 😊 Once filtred through fine fabric, it makes up 25% of every bar!
Why? Salt water makes a harder bar so it lasts longer, salt water is soothing to skin, & most especially it's kind of romantic to use something that connects us to our ancestors who emigrated from the old country 10 generations ago.
Soap Making Note: Sodium hydroxide (commonly referred to as 'lye') is necessary to cause the chemical reaction that makes oil & water become soap. Once the soap is soap, the lye is gone.😊 Please visit our FAQ page for more info about the saponification process.
Full bar: appx 100 grams* (cured)
* While curing water evaporates & weight decreases, though shape remains the same. Fully cured bars are harder, so last longer, provided they dry between uses.
Full bar: Recyclable, compostable, zero-waste, plastic-free box
Tip: Place the bar on the bristles of a fingernail brush so the water drains off it.

Tip: This is a great way to use up slivers of soap too small to hold. Tip: This is a great way to use up tiny slivers of soap when you get to the end of a bar. Note: There is a slight possibility that the oats and chamomile could clog the dispensing mechanism, so we suggest rinsing it occasionally with clear water.
I have this baby soap wrapped up in a shower gift for my niece. It smells so lovely, not overpowering. I can’t comment yet on the soap texture but I am sure its terrific as most of this company’s products are.
Hey Karen!
Congrats to your niece!! New babies are just a wonderful blessing!! I can assure you that the calming chamomile and soothing oats that are added to this soap with keep both baby and momma's skin happy!

I love lavender and would like a bigger kick of fragrance. I was really hoping that this bar worked 100% as a shampoo, soap and shave solution since I would be happy to be rid of commercial shampoos and the packaging that comes with them. And as soap and shave, it is wonderful. As shampoo, I am sorry to say that after a few shampoos, my (and my husband’s) hair didn’t feel or behave like it was clean. Both of us have dry, curly hair but after a few washes our hair felt coated and weighted by the oils. It works for the shave and the body wash, but was disappointing as a shampoo. Love The Soap Company of Nova Scotia regardless. Hope this feedback in the kindest of spirit helps.
Thank you for making such an excellent laundry powder.
The only laundry powder we'll use.
I put it on right out of the shower. Very nice body oil.
I like it well enough but wish it was a tube or bullet format.
